Albania was declare a independent country by the Italian military and became a republic under a constitution until 1928. When it adapted a constitution amendment making it a monarchy. In 1939 Italy invaded and annexed Albania. Germany Occupied Albania between 1943 and 1944 when it became an independent state. Albania became a communist state in 1946.
