BAHRAIN

In the early 1900's Bahrain used stamps of India and Great Britain with overprints for its postage. Between the years 1953 and 1957 it issued some of its own stamps for local use with a picture of a Sheik. In 1960 Bahrain started to issue more stamps with their country name printed on them. During theses periods Bahrain was still using Great Britain stamps with overprints. Bahrain open its own postal Administration in 1966 and began to issue its own stamps. It became an independent state in 1971.
