COMORO ISLANDS

Comoro Islands consisted of the Islands of Mayotte, Anjouan, Grand Comoro and Moheli which were French colonies in the years 1887-1914. In 1914 they were attach to Madagascar and used stamps from that country until 1946. Then they became a separate French Territory and began to issue their own stamps. In 1975, Anjouan, Grand Comoro and Moheli united to declare their independence as the State of Comoro. In 1978 Comoro Islands changed their name to Federal and Islamic Republic of the Comoros.
