CZECHOSLOVAKIA

Czechoslovakia Republic began to issue their own stamps in 1918. It consisted of Bohemia, Moravia, Solvakia and Ruthenia. In 1939 the Germans took over Bohemia, Moravia, and Slovakia while Ruthenia was joined with Hungary. Stamps of Czechoslovakia were still being issued except Bohemia and Moravia, and Slovakia issued their own stamps while under German control. In 1945 all of these territories were returned to Czechoslovakia except Ruthenia which joined with Russia. Then in 1969 all the territories within Czechoslovakia joined together to become a Federal state until 1993, when Czechoslovakia separated into Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
