Guernsey is part of a group of islands known as bailiwick. The bailiwick includes the islands of Guernsey, Alderney, Sark, Herm, Jethou and Lithou. In 1969 the Guernsey post office became independent and stamps of Great Britain were no longer valid for postage in Guernsey. Some example of Guernsey stamps is as follows:
