ITALIAN OFFICES ABROAD, TRIESTE

Italian post offices were maintained in Trieste for sending and receiving mail. These post offices process the mail using stamps of Italy with an overprint for postage. The offices were maintained in the free territory of Treiste until 1954, when it was divided between Italy and Yogoslavia. The northern section was given to Italy and is known as Zone A. The southern section was given to Yougoslavia and is known as Zone B. Some examples of the overprints used on Italian stamps in Trieste is as follows:
