Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania were all group together postally in 1935. All postage stamps issued from that time had the three colony names inscribed in their stamps. Before 1920 Kenya was known as the crown colony of East Africa. Stamps issued before 1920 for the colonies had Uganda and East Africa protectorates inscribed into their stamps. After 1920 the name of the colony was changed to Kenya. The postage stamps were then inscribe Kenya and Uganda. In 1964 Tanganyika united with Zanaibar and the postage stamps were then inscribed Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya . All these colonies are now independent countries.
