LIBYA

Libya was a Italian colony until 1939 when it became part of the Italian national territory. In 1951 Libia became the "Kingdom of Libya," and in 1969 it was again renamed the "Libyan Arab Republic" or LAR. It was again renamed in 1977 to the "People's Socialist Libyan Arab Republic."
