Middle Congo was formerly part of French Congo colony. It was later grouped with Gabon, Ubangi-Shari and Chad to create French Equatorial Africa. French Equatorial Africa became Gabon in 1934, and the stamps of Gabon were used for postage. In 1958 the Middle Congo split from Gabon. It was renamed "Congo, People's Republic Of" and became a state in the French community. Some examples of Middle Congo stamps is as follows:
