MONTENEGRO

Montenegro was a part of the Turkish empire until 1918 when it gained its independence. It united with Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Dalmatia and Slovenia to become Yugoslavia in 1929. Austria occupied Montenegro in the early 1900s and used Austrian Military stamps with an overprint for postage. Italy and Germany also occupied Yugoslavia in the 1940's and used Yugoslavia, Italy and Montenegro stamps with an overprint for postage. During the Italian occupation inscribed stamps were also issued. Some examples of Montenegro stamps is as follows:
