Mozambique Company was hired by Portugal in 1891 to administer the territories of Manica and Sofala which were part of the Mozambique colony. Mozambique Company issued the first stamp for the territories in 1892. The company issued stamps and administered the territories until 1941, when the stamps of Mozambique replaced the stamps of Mozambique Company, and the territories of Manica and Sofala were returned to Mozambique control.
