Ruanda-Urundi was formerly known as Belgian East Africa. Its first stamp issued in 1924 used the stamps of the Belgian Congo with an overprint for postage. In 1962 Ruanda-Urundi split into two independent states. One was renamed Republic of Rwanda and the other was renamed Kingdom of Burundi. Some examples of Ruanda-Urundi stamps is as follows:
