SAAR

Saar was a territory of Germany until 1920 when the League of Nations took control of the territory. In 1935 Saar was returned to Germany and the stamps of Germany were used for postage in Saar. After WWII France took control of Saar until 1957 when control of Saar was returned to the German Federal Republic. In 1959 the stamps of the German Federal Republic replaced the stamps of Saar.
