Southern Rhodesia began to issue stamps in 1924. In 1953 it joined with Northern Rhodesia and Nyasaland to form the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland. In 1963 the federation was dissolved and Southern Rhodesia was renamed Rhodesia. An example of a Southern Rhodesia stamp is as follows:
