TYPES OF 3 & 5 CENT WASHINGTON and JEFFERSON DESIGNS FROM 1851 TO 1860

TYPE I
This type has a frame line all around it.
TYPE II
This type has the framed lines removed from the top and bottom of the stamp. And the side frame lines are continuous through the stamps.
TYPE IIa
Is similar to type II but the side frame lines are broken between stamps.


ROUND CORNER TYPE

TYPE I
Is a complete design with projection arrows at the top and bottom as well as at the sides of the stamp.
TYPE II
This type has the projection arrows at the top and bottom partly or completely cut away.
